UCF researchers hope virtual reality can help to prevent wildfires
06-06-2007 · EurekAlert! The UCF research team is developing an hourlong interactive simulation of a wildfire. Participants will decide whether or not to invest in prescribed burns and fire insurance over a 30-year span. Each decision leads to different consequences, and researchers hope seeing the impact of wildfires will encourage participants to support prescribed burning and other fire prevention methods. This technology could be used later for other topics, such as hurricanes.
