Remicade data in ankylosing spondylitis show improvement in spinal mobility and spinal inflammation
06-15-2007 · EurekAlert!Data presented today at the European League Against Rheumatism Annual European Congress of Rheumatology showed that patients with ankylosing spondylitis who received Remicade over two years experienced significant improvement in spinal mobility. In addition, Remicade-treated patients showed sustained reductions in spinal inflammation through two years as detected by magnetic resonance imaging.

Amgen (NASDAQ: AMGN) announced patients with ankylosing spondylitis who received treatment with Enbrel (R) (etanercept) experienced sustained improvement in signs and symptoms, spinal mobility and physical function over 148 to 160 weeks of therapy, according to data from an ongoing open-label, multinational, phase 4 extension study presented at the American College of Rheumatology scientific meeting. These results are consistent with an ENBREL phase 3 clinical trial at 24 weeks.

Data from an integrated analysis of three randomized, placebo-controlled trials showed patients with moderate to severe psoriasis receiving REMICADE achieved a consistently high level of skin clearance in the head, trunk, lower and upper extremities as measured by the Psoriasis Area Severity Index. At week 10 of the analysis, 71 percent and 79 percent of patients receiving REMICADE 3 mg/kg or 5 mg/kg, respectively, achieved a at least a 75 percent improvement in psoriasis.

According to findings presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology, 87 percent and 91 percent of patients responding to ustekinumab 45 mg or 95 mg maintenance therapy, respectively, sustained at least a 75 percent improvement in psoriasis through one year.
