New technique could dramatically lower costs of DNA sequencing

The technique could lead to a device that would read human genomes quickly and affordably.

He and a colleague at Johns Hopkins University, have developed a technique that makes a DNA separation technique called electrophoresis, five times faster and less expensive than is is possible. The discovery could have a range of applications, from forensics, to cloning, and also to bioterrorism.
