Results of geologic tests released on Jan. 9, 2007, by British businessman Robert Bittlestone, Cambridge classicist James Diggle and University of Edinburgh geologist John Underhill suggest further evidence to support the hypothesis that Homer's Ithaca can be found on western Kefalonia as reported in the January 2007 issue of Geotimes magazine, published by the American Geological Institute (AGI).

Researchers from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory's (EMBL) Mouse Biology Unit in Monterotondo, Italy, and the Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Sevilla, Spain, now for the first time investigate the molecular basis of memory in living mice. The study, which appears in the current issue of Learning and Memory, identified a molecule that is crucially involved in learning and singled out the signaling pathway through which it affects memory.

Researchers from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution are venturing this month to the North Pole to deploy instruments that will make year-round observations of the water beneath the Arctic ice cap.
