Eating Walnuts With High-fat Meals Helps To Protect Arteries Against Short-term Damage

New research shows that consuming a handful of raw walnuts along with meals high in saturated fat appears to limit the ability of the harmful fat to damage arteries. Adding olive oil, however, does not provide the same type of vascular protection. The research, conducted at the University of Barcelona's Hospital Clínico, appears in the Oct. 17, 2006, edition of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
