US teen pregnancy rates decline as result of improved contraceptive use
12-01-2006 · EurekAlert!Eighty-six percent of the recent decline in U.S. teen pregnancy rates is the result of improved contraceptive use, while a small proportion of the decline (14 percent) can be attributed to teens waiting longer to start having sex. The scientific findings indicate that abstinence promotion, in itself, is insufficient to help adolescents prevent unintended pregnancies.

- In-vitro fertilization improved with 3-D/4-D-guided embryo transfer and new placement target
10-16-2007 · EurekAlert!
Embryo placement is a key factor determining the success of in-vitro fertilization. A new placement target and 3-D/4-D ultrasound-guided transfer technique enable doctors to effectively individualize embryo placement in a way that mimics nature, and in-turn help improve the in-vitro fertilization pregnancy rate more than 10 percent. The new target and technique were the subject of a six-year study of 5,073 patients. The results were presented at the 63rd Annual Meeting of the American Association of Reproductive Medicine.

- Rapid growth, early maturity meant teen pregnancy for dinosaurs

Now that scientists have identified the fossil bones of three female dinosaurs, each a different species, it has become clear that dinosaurs exhibited rapid growth and early maturity, probably because they had a high early mortality rate. UC-Berkeley and Ohio University paleontologists report details of two of the three and argue that dinosaurs reached sexual maturity in their teens, more akin to mammals than to their reptile ancestors or their descendents, the birds.
