Midges send undeniable message -- Planet is warming
12-11-2006 · EurekAlert!Small insects that inhabit some of the most remote parts of the United States are sending a strong message about climate change. New research suggests that changes in midge communities in some of these areas provide additional evidence that the globe is indeed getting warmer. Researchers created a history of changing midge communities for six remote mountain lakes in the western United States.

12-01-2007 · Science News Online
North America's vegetation soaks up millions of tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each year, an impressive rate of sequestration that still can't keep up with the prodigious emissions of the planet-warming gas generated by human activity on the continent.

- Mars with ice, shaken, not stirred
10-25-2007 · EurekAlert!
Mars, like Earth, is a climate-fickle water planet. The main difference is that water on the frigid red planet is rarely liquid, preferring to spend almost all of its time traveling the world as a gas or churning up the surface as ice. That's the global picture literally and figuratively coming into much sharper focus as various Mars-orbiting cameras send back tomes of unprecedented super high-resolution imagery of ever-vaster tracts of the planet's surface.

- Adaptation to global climate change is an essential response to a warming planet
02-07-2007 · EurekAlert!
Temperatures are rising on Earth, which is heating up the debate over global warming and the future of our planet, but what may be needed most to combat global warming is a greater focus on adapting to our changing planet, says a team of science policy experts writing in this week's Nature magazine.
