A multicenter study on treating common ear infections in children with ear tubes adds to a growing body of evidence that favors antibiotic ear drops over antibiotics swallowed in pill or liquid form in such cases, a UT Southwestern Medical Center researcher reports.

In a new study, using Gallium (Ga) to limit the amount of iron (Fe) to which bacteria have access protected mice from both acute and chronic Pseudomonas aeruginonsa lung infections, leading to the suggestion that Ga might be a promising new therapeutic for the treatment of infection with P. aeruginonsa.
