Multiple low-energy plasma skin treatments may help diminish facial wrinkles
02-19-2007 · EurekAlert!A study involving eight patients suggests that multiple low-energy treatments with a plasma skin regeneration tool may help to reduce wrinkles and improve facial appearance with minimal healing time, according to an article in the February issue of Archives of Dermatology, one of the JAMA/Archives journals. - How an Atkins-like diet can treat epilepsy: Leptin attenuates rodent seizure severity
12-20-2007 · EurekAlert!
Not all individuals who have epilepsy respond to traditional treatments. Strict adherence to a ketogenic diet high in fats and extremely low in carbohydrates is sometimes used to treat these patients. A new study shows that intranasal delivery of leptin, a hormone important in feeding and energy metabolism, delays the onset of convulsions in rodents, leading to the suggestion that leptin-triggered signaling may be a key to how a ketogenic diet combats epilepsy.

- Genetic differences may help explain response to multiple sclerosis treatment
01-14-2008 · EurekAlert!
By comparing the DNA of patients with multiple sclerosis whose symptoms are reduced by interferon beta therapy to the DNA of those who continue to experience relapses, researchers may have identified important genetic differences between the two, according to an article posted online today that will appear in the March 2008 print issue of Archives of Neurology, one of the JAMA/Archives journals. These differences could eventually be used to help predict which treatments will help which patients.
