Ingredient in Big Macs and sodas can stabilize
02-26-2007 · EurekAlert! The potential of gold nanoparticles to detect and treat cancer has been hindered by the difficulty of making them in a stable, nontoxic form that can be injected into a patient. New research at the University of Missouri-Columbia has found that a plant extract can be used to overcome this problem, creating a new type of gold nanoparticle that is stable and nontoxic and can be administered orally or injected.

- UCR-led research team detects 'top quark,' a basic constituent of matter
12-13-2006 · EurekAlert!
A group of 50 international physicists, led by UC Riverside’s Ann Heinson, has detected for the first time a subatomic particle, the top quark, produced without the simultaneous production of its antimatter partner -- an extremely rare event. The heaviest known elementary particle, the top quark is one of the fundamental building blocks of nature and understood to be an ingredient of the nuclear soup just after the Big Bang.

New discoveries about another universe whose collapse appears to have given birth to the one we have today are in a research paper to be published on July 1, 2007. The paper introduces a new mathematical model that gives new details about the beginning of our universe, which now appears to have been a Big Bounce, according to a new theory of quantum gravity, and not a Big Bang, as described by Einstein's Theory of General Relativity.
